Summary of Role: Support the Head of Engineering (HOE) in ensuring the effectiveness of plant machinery, maintenance, and utilities. Undertake proactive and reactive maintenance activities under the direction of the HOE.

Key Tasks:

• Engineering Operations: Take a full and active role in the operation of the Engineering Department.
• Health & Safety: Promote good Health & Safety practices within the department and site.
• Planned Maintenance: Assist with the implementation of all planned preventative maintenance activities.
• Downtime Reduction: Be proactive in seeking remedies to minimize downtime affecting production.
• Safe Systems of Work: Follow safe systems of work for engineering activities.
• Liaison: Coordinate with the Production team to minimize disruption during maintenance or emergency repairs.
• Machinery Checks: Take a proactive role in daily, weekly, or monthly machinery checks and repairs.
• Housekeeping: Address day-to-day housekeeping issues covering electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Confidentiality: Adhere to strict confidentiality standards regarding company financial and salary matters.
• Shift Coverage: Cover shifts day or night when engineers are on holiday, sick, or on training courses.
• Call Outs: Attend call outs for serious breakdowns if required.
• Training: Assist with the training of engineering staff.
• Audits: Help complete health, safety, and environmental audits at all plants and ensure follow-up.
• Risk Assessments: Assist with risk assessments, COSHH manual updates, and maintain records.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with all managers, supervisors, and colleagues.
• Compliance: Enforce and comply with Company Policy on Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
• Record Keeping: Maintain required H&S records to comply with regulations and policies.
• Company Policies: Follow Company Policies, Terms & Conditions of Employment, and laid down procedures.
• Work Area Maintenance: Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
• Training & Development: Attend training courses as required and foster good working relations.
• Continued Development: Complete necessary continued personal development.
• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of Company business.
• Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake other ad hoc duties as required.
